Neil Ernest Dykes

Neil Ernest Dykes, 42, of McPherson, Kansas., passed away at 5:22 p.m., Thursday, January 28th, 2021 while in the company of his wife and mother-in-law, at Ascension Via Christi, St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.

Neil was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 9, 1978, a son of Lorraine J. (Griego) and Rex Duane Dykes, I.

Neil attended Lincoln and Washington grade schools, McPherson Middle School, and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas.

He was a member of New Hope Evangelical Church McPherson, Kansas.

Through the years Neil worked for Kansas Cylinder Head, McPherson Concrete, Central Plastics, Midway Motors as a salesman, was Bail Enforcement Agent for Eagle Bail Bonds and auto detailer and in 2013 Neil started his own business, Downonit Detail.

Neil was a member of the NRA and McPherson Chamber of Commerce. Neil loved life with gusto, and had a huge heart for everyone. He enjoyed golfing, going to car shows, spending time with his friends and family. He felt it was important that he taught his kids gun safety and how to shoot.

Neil E. Dykes was united in marriage to Monica D. Leach on October 27, 2001 at Salina, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, three daughters and one son, Alexis, Cali, Lili, and Gage

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Monica Dykes, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Alexis Dykes, Cali Dykes, Lili Dykes, and Gage Dykes, all of McPherson, Kansas; his parents, Lorraine and Rex Dykes I, of McPherson, Kansas; his sister, Chantal Dykes, of Derby, Kansas; his maternal grandmother Bennie Griego, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, other relatives and a host of friends.

Neil was preceded in death by his brothers, Rex and Chris Dykes; his paternal grandparents; and maternal grandfather.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at New Hope Evangelical Church, McPherson, Kansas with Pastor George Bocox officiating.
