Nancy Jean Sager

Nancy Jean Sager, the daughter of George J. and Frances Harriet (Simpson) Noyes, was born in Jacksonville, Illinois on September 26, 1941. She was one of two children born to this union, Stuart and Nancy. She attended Roosevelt Grade School, McPherson, 6th grade in Colorado Springs, Colorado, 7th grade in Woodland Park, Colorado, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1959. She then attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas and graduated from McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English.

Nancy was blessed with the birth of a daughter Laura. She was a homemaker for many years before becoming a legal secretary for the David G. Shriver Law Office, where she worked until her retirement. Nancy was a 59 year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter AY, Domestic Arts Club, Progressive Literature Club, Phi Beta Phi Sorority at KSU, and was heavily involved with McPherson Theater Guild for more than 30 years. Nancy also enjoyed her many friends.

Nancy was a loving and caring daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and dear friend. Nancy was very proud of her daughter and her son-in-law, Rex, with his many taekwondo accomplishments. Nancy put her heart and soul into her groups that she was involved with, as well as the MHS Class of 1959 reunions, as she planned the reunions every five years. Some of Nancy’s fondest memories: learning how to ice skate at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, the scavenger hunt in Woodland Park for her birthday on 10 acres of land, where there were lots of places to hide things, but also bears and wolves to look out for! The May Fete performances with Bob Hapgood, as well as her classmates and all of the fun at the reunions. Trips to Buena Vista to visit Joyce and her family, but always having to lay on the back seat or floor as we traversed up the canyons. Cheering K-State to many victories in football and basketball, especially against KU!
