Michael Anthony Pieschl

Michael Anthony Pieschl, 98, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023. He was born on February 16, 1925, in Salina to Anton and Helen (Shanahan) Pieschl.

Mike was raised in Salina and received a business degree from Kansas Wesleyan University. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in WWII. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 8196 and worked for International Harvester, ran the Conoco Bulk Plant in Salina, and was in sales for Coleman American Moving.

Survivors include his children, Anthony Pieschl (Patricia), Wichita, Kan., and Susan Anthony, Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Shaman Douglas (Rachel), Arlington, Va., Jessica Mader (Gabe), Olathe, Kan., Molly Tormey (Chad), Valley Center, Kan., Jordan Brown (William), Wamego, Kan., and Capt. Michael Pieschl (Capt. Hannah Durbin-Pieschl), USAF, Ramstein, Germany; six great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Fred Swander, of Sylvan Grove, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette (Dreiling) Pieschl; daughter, Ann Swander; and sister, Eleanor Eikenberry.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, family present from 4-6, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with a vigil at 6. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina, with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Brookville, Kan.
