Mary Ecton, 71 of Salina, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday October 3, 2023. Mary was born to Jack and Margaret Hoover, the 10th of 11 children.  She married Alan Ecton in 1972.  She and Alan along with their 2 daughters were most notably known for running the Sno Wizard shaved ice for many years.

She is survived by her daughters Julie Ecton and Layla Peppers, husband Lyn Peppers and 3 grandchildren Lexy Apel (husband Tyler), Logan Peppers (spouse Alex), and Alyssa Peppers. Her sisters Judy Heimer (husband Bob) and Sharon Fleming (husband Bill) and her brother Glenn Hoover (wife Joyce) as well as lots of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 7 siblings Ronald Hoover, Donald Hoover, Cecil Hoover, Gerald Hoover, Shirley Gillespie, Norma Lentz, and Jean Isaacson.  After Alan’s passing in 2007, Mary shared her life with Pat Hoskins.  She will be missed by Pat, his sons, Jake and Sam (wife Amber) and granddaughters Aubri, Summer, and Wren.  Mary loved to travel particularly to Florida and loved life!

Her family will be celebrating her life and saying their final good-byes at a public memorial service on Monday October 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Lodge on top of Indian Rock (one of her favorite places).
