Marilyn Sue Rundberg, 72, of Salina, KS, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on May 29, 2026.
Born in Salina, KS, Marilyn was the daughter of Dick and Claudine Ashcraft. She graduated from Salina South High School and dedicated 44 years of service to Asbury Hospital, now known as Salina Regional Health Center. Many of those years were spent as a secretary in the Physical Therapy department, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Marilyn will be remembered for her kindness, selfless nature, and love for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with those she loved and was a devoted fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Royals, and Kansas City Chiefs, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on her favorite teams.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Daryl Rundberg; her daughter, Jody Rundberg (Tad Hood); her sisters Carolyn Forristal and Rhonda Estep (John); sister-in-law, Theresa Rundberg: and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Claudine Ashcraft; her sister, Pamela Ashcraft; her nephew, Baby Boy Forristal; her grandparents Floyd and Irene Ashcraft and Harry and Jessie Merriman; her father-in-law, Marlin Rundberg; her mother-in-law; Lois Rundberg; her brother-in-law James Rundberg; and many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church of the Cross, 1600 Rush St, Salina, KS 67401. In Marilyn’s honor, guests are encouraged to wear casual attire with Jayhawks, Royals or Chiefs colors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Interim Healthcare of Salina, 415 E Iron Ave, Salina KS 67401, or United Methodist Church of the Cross, 1600 Rush St, Salina, KS 67401, in care of Heier Scott Mortuary and Cremations.
