Lyla Mae Anderson Arnold

Lyla Mae Anderson Arnold, 74, of Salina was born on December 23, 1943 in Concordia, Kansas. Her parents were Herman and Beulah Anderson.

Lyla graduated from Concordia, Kansas high school in 1962. She lived and worked in Manhattan and Topeka before moving to Salina where she met Bill Arnold in 1964 while working at Asbury Hospital. On Valentine’s Day in 1965, they were married at the United Methodist Church of the Cross in Salina. They were married 53 years. They have two sons, Alan and Gene. Alan is married to Marlys and they live in Kansas City, Missouri. Gene is married to Shelly and they live in Salina, Kansas. They gave her two wonderful granddaughters, Kamryn and Karsyn Arnold. They also brought a lot of joy to her life.

She ran an in-home daycare while her children were young. In 1992, Lyla graduated from Cloud County Community College with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and Gerontology.

She worked at many nursing homes and care facilities in Salina including Shalimar Healthcare, Kenwood View, College Park, Drury Place, and also in homes as a home health aide.

For over 40 years, she was a member of Belmont Nazarene and participated in a variety of activities. She most recently attended Salina First Nazarene Church.

Lyla started the Red Hat Society in Salina. She enjoyed planning and attending activities together with her Red Hatters.

She is preceded in death by her parents and half-sister, June Combs.

At the family’s request there will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 24 at Salina First Nazarene Church, Salina, Kansas, with Rev. Jon M. Fillipi and Rev. Paul Long officiating. Inurnment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
