Lewis B. Linden

Lewis B. Linden, age 97, of Concordia, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia. He was born on Sept. 24, 1923 in New Almelo, KS to Arnold H. & Catherine (Wahlmeier) Linden.

Lewis graduated from Jennings High School, Jennings, KS. He was married to Rose Martin and they were blessed with two children Frances and Michael. He owned and operated his own construction business in Colby, KS, proudly named Linden Construction which was later passed on to his son. He continued doing what he loved by doing odd and end jobs for friends and family up until he retired. After his retirement he moved to Texas to enjoy life, travel, play golf, and spend time with his family and friends. One of his many hobbies was making beautiful jewelry. Later, life and family led him to Concordia. There he fell in love and married Edith (Currie) Sallman. Together they made beautiful memories and enjoyed life to the fullest until his last day. Lewis never knew a stranger and he had one of the most kind, caring hearts you can imagine. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Sallman, Concordia; son, Michael Linden, Concordia; grandchildren, Heather Wilkins (Bill), Cozad, NE, Bethanie Cameron (Scott), Colby, Tim (Tammy) Trail, Topeka, Tom (Sherie) Trail, Atwood; stepdaughters, Ruth Gardner, Fran Trost (Larry), Marilyn Lowell (Rodney), and Phyllis Shanks all of Concordia, Alice Goddard, Jamestown; and many, many grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Frances Trail; his parents; 4 brothers & 2 sisters: stepdaughter Iris Lee.

It was Lewis’ wishes to be cremated and a memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, October 23, 2020 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Fr. David Metz officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in the Atwood Fairview Cemetery, Atwood, KS. Friends may sign the book from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
