Larry G. Lagasse

Larry G. Lagasse, age 79, Concordia, KS resident, entered into rest on January 31, 2019 at Marquis Place, Concordia.  He was born on Nov. 24, 1939 in Rice, KS to Harold G. & Jeanette (Carlson) Lagasse.

Larry graduated from Concordia High School in 1957.  He then went on to graduate from the Reische School of Auctioneering, Mason City, Iowa in March of 1958 and returned to Concordia where he established Larry Lagasse Auction & Real Estate.  His business endeavors were put on hold in January of 1962 when he entered the U.S. Army.  Larry graduated basic training at Ft. Carson, CO and went on to Supply School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.  He was stationed at the Harmon AFB in Stephenville, New Foundland, where he served until 1963 and transferred to Ft. Polk, LA.  He completed his service to our country in February on 1964.  He married Lana Sue Wilkes on January 21, 1966 in Belleville, KS.  Larry returned to his auction & real estate business in full force and worked beside his wife Lana every single day.  Together they raised 3 children.  Larry & Lana spent countless hours with their kids, hauling them down the road to rodeos and roping competitions.  Larry’s son, Lance, joined Larry Lagasse Auction & Real Estate in 1989 and worked alongside his folks.  Lance will proudly continue the legacy of the family business.  Larry was a past member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and the American Legion.  He and Lana helped with the Cloud County Community College Unique Auction as well as several 4-H Livestock Auctions in the area.  Larry spent the last 10 years of his life doing perhaps his greatest work, being a faithful care giver to his wife Lana, as she battles Alzheimer’s.

Larry’s family would like to thank Marquis Place and Meadowlark Hospice for their diligent care of Larry while he was a resident.  They appreciate all the staff and their efforts in caring for Larry.

Larry is survived by his wife, Lana Wilkes Lagasse, Concordia; 3 children, daughter, Lisa Chambers (Randy), Marshall, TX; son, Lance Lagasse (Brenda), Concordia & daughter, Lacie Burnett (Rance), Amarillo, TX; 6 grandchildren, Trae Chambers (Hayley), Marshall, TX, Colby Chambers, Marshall, TX, Layne Lagasse, Alva, OK, Taylor Lagasse, Concordia & Brooklyn & Laurent Burnett, Amarillo, TX.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Marston, Charlie & Verlin Lagasse & 1 sister, Roberta Trost, as well as an infant son.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, February 4, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, Concordia with Pastor Al Paredes and Rev. Melanie Adams.  Burial will follow at the Rice Cemetery, Rice, KS.Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #76 and VFW Post #588. Visitation will be Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 2-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-8 pm all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
