Joseph “Joe” Aloysius Michael Dooley Jr.

Joseph Aloysius Michael Dooley Jr. passed away Thursday, March 7th, 2024 at the age of 91. Joe was born on September 27, 1932 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Joseph and Elizabeth Grace (Ward) Dooley. Joe had older brothers, Kenny Ward and John Dooley, and sister, Betty Hilcken, and is survived by older sister, Grace Taylor and younger sister, Joan Russell.

Joe was married to Ella on January 22, 1955. They have three children, Patti Louise Dooley LeDuc and husband Jerry Leduc, Joseph Aloysius Michael Dooley III and wife Tammy Dooley, Peggy Lee Dooley Scheidegger and husband Ken Scheidegger.

They have seven grandchildren, Jason and Kevin Stegman, Joseph IV, Travis and Alayna Dooley, Taylor Scheidegger Carlberg and Brady Scheidegger, and six great grandchildren, Kemal and Serhan Stegman, Blake and Ethan Stegman, Drew Elliott, and Ella Carlberg.

Joe joined the Air Force in August 1951. When he was stationed at Schilling Air Force Base, he met his wife Ella. He graduated from Fort Hayes State University with his Bachelor degree in Industrial Arts and Mathematics. Joe had several career paths with many adventures. He was a life member with the VFW in Kinsley, KS. Joe retired from Schwan’s/Tony’s in 1997. After retiring, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas and spent time playing golf with newfound friends. After returning to Salina in 2008, he worked security at Hawker Beach. After retiring, he was an active YMCA member with his wife. Joe loved spending time with family, watching crime movies, spending time outside in the warm weather, and eating any type of candy or dessert. Joe was known for his sense of humor, even on his toughest days he found a way to make someone else smile or laugh. His personality, laugh, and love will be missed by all who knew him.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 15, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina, KS 67401.
