John Delbert Brockway

John Delbert Brockway, 77, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 5:40 p.m., Thursday, July 30th, 2020 at Via Christi Village, Wichita, Kansas.

John was born in Beloit, Kansas on February 17, 1943, a son of Ruth Arelyn (Dunckley) and Arthur Delbert Brockway.

John attended Barnard Elementary School, and graduated from Barnard High School, Barnard, Kansas in 1961.

John Delbert Brockway was united in marriage to Gladys Norene Thurston on February 24, 1963 in Hunter, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, two sons and one daughter, Jon, Angela, and Chris..

Through the years, John worked for both McPherson Concrete Products as a Machine Operator and N.C.R.A. as an Employee at the same time, and later worked for N.C.R.A. as a Loader Biller, Mechanic, and retired as the Scheduler & Planner.

John was a member of Kansas Colorado California Cushman Clubs, and Cushman Club of America. John enjoyed working on his Cushman’s and everyone else’s, building motorcycles. He also made great homemade ice cream, and loved spending time with his grand kids and his favorite great grandson.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 57 years, Gladys Brockway, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Jon Brockway and his significant other Lynn; of McPherson, Kansas, Angela Fallis and husband Warren, of Luray, Kansas, and Chris Brockway and wife Stephanie, of Somonauk, Illinois; his brother Edwin Brockway and wife Joyce, of Hughes Springs, Texas; his six grandchildren, Arelyn Seirer and husband Mykel, Elijah Brockway, Haley Fallis, Taylor Fallis, Matthew Brockway, and Jackson Brockway; his favorite number 1 great-grandson, Roland John Seirer; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, A. Delbert and Ruth A. Brockway; and brothers, Arthur L. Brockway and Earl Eugene “Bud” Brockway.

A Celebration of Life come and go will take place at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, KS, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 14th, 2020.
