Jerry I. Battles, of Salina, passed over Sunday, September 30, 2018, at the age of 86.

Jerry was born September 8, 1932 in Whitney, Alabama to Ross and Ruby Battles.

He retired as a technical sergeant in 1968 from the US air force after 20 years of service. He was also with the civil service, Beach aircraft and the US postal service in Salina.

He was preceded by his parents, Ross and Ruby Battles; wife Dorothy (Fry); brothers, Grapher and Ted, and sister, Dorothy Ruth.

He is survived by daughters, Melissa Maddox of Salina, Doree Wiedel (Tony) of KC, MO., 5 grandsons, Tyler Maddox of Salina, Shane Maddox of Wichita, Miles Wiedel of KC, MO., Hank Wiedel of Lawrence and 1 granddaughter, Alex Sherf (Greg) of Olathe. 3 great grandchildren, Tyson Maddox of Salina, Wally and June Sherf of Olathe, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his furry companions, Charlie and Sarah.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, 1:00 pm October 8, 2018 at Roselawn Heights Memorial Park, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to
Saline County Animal Shelter or Alzheimer’s Association in care of Roselawn Mortuary, PO Box 2322, Salina, 67402.
