Janet Kay Ernsbarger

Janet Kay Ernsbarger, 75, of Salina, Kansas died Monday, July 29, 2019 at home. She was born April 19th, 1944 in Salina, Kansas to Theodore and Eunice Johnson. She married David Ernsbarger on October 5th, 1968. She is survived by her husband and her two daughters, Janacque Ernsbarger (Patty) and Angellina Ribordy (Lance); two grandchildren, Kelsey and Tyler Ribordy (Cara); one great granddaughter, Beatrice; one sister, Carolyn Richardson; nieces, nephews and cousins. Her father, Theodore; mother, Eunice; brother, Richard; and sister, Phylis preceded her in death.

Janet was a long-time resident of Salina where she lived almost her entire life. She attended Salina High School and graduated from Grier School in Pennsylvania in 1962. She was a manager for Longs Tops and Bottoms and the Trio Fashion Shoppe on North Santa Fe.

She loved to quilt and enjoyed reading, playing cards and spending a little money at the casinos. For many summers, she hauled her kids and their friends to the pool, enjoyed family camping and boating at Milford Lake, canned peaches and put up Dave’s garden bounty for winter’s need. She cherished morning coffee with her friends and loved to cook a big meal, complete with homemade rolls and pie, to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas with the family. Her most memorable attributes were her giant heart and infectious smile; always giving to others a listening ear, her time and her care. She will forever be remembered each time we see a quilt or are wrapped in the love that she sewed into each one that she gave to us.

The visitation will be Sunday, August 4th, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, August 5th, at the funeral home. Pastor Kent Happel will be officiating. The burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
