Jan “Jay” Dubiel

Jan “Jay” Dubiel, 77, passed away on April 21, 2025 in Salina, KS.

Jan was born in Chicago, IL on August 27, 1947 to parents William “Bill” and Nola Dubiel.

Jan was the oldest of six siblings, his father served in the Air Force, and that brought the family to Salina after living in Chicago, England, South Dakota and Germany.

After graduating from Salina High School in 1968, Jan served in the United States Navy until 1972. He did cruises on the USS Bennington, and the USS Coral Sea. After his honorable discharge he held jobs at different manufacturing plants around the Salina area doing metal work and welding.

In his younger years he was a mechanical person that enjoyed motorcycles and airplanes. Later in life he was passionate about recycling and always rode his bike everywhere. He loved animals. Jan always talked kindly about his neighbors, and they were his world.

Jan is survived by his siblings: Phil (Judy) Dubiel, Tom Dubiel, Kate Dubiel, Jane (Kevin) Johnson, William (Bill) Jr. (Kathy) Dubiel, and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
