James “Jim” Frank Srna

James “Jim” Frank Srna, 88, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Marquette, Kansas. He was born on July 28, 1936, on the family farm west of Delphos, to Joseph John Srna and Geneva (Kunkle) Srna.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Tescott, KS. Jim was a 1954 graduate of Wilson High School and served six years in the United States Army Reserves. He worked for several years as a butcher before beginning a long and dedicated career with the Saline County Building Authority, from which he retired after 26 years of service.

On June 11, 1960, he married Jo Ann Dumler at First Lutheran Church in Dorrance, Kansas and to this union two children were born. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salina.

A man of many talents and quiet strength, Jim enjoyed farming, gardening, yard work, woodworking, and fishing. He found joy in simple pleasures and took great pride in his home, land, and handiwork.

He survived by his wife, Jo Ann Srna, of the home; son Dane William “Bill” (Nicci) Srna, of Assaria; daughter, Kelly Ranae (Doug) Covert, of Salina; his brother, Richard Srna, of El Dorado, KS; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Genevieve Pede and Janice Olson; and his granddaughter Killey Machelle Shaw.

He will be remembered for his love for his family, strong work ethic, and faith.

Visitation will be Monday, May 12, 9-10 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salina, with the funeral service starting at 10 am. Burial will be in the Assaria Lutheran Church Cemetery.
