James J. Jacobo

James J. Jacobo, 91, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026. He was born on January 1, 1935.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960 and continued his service in the National Guard from 1960 to 1964. On June 20, 1964, he married the love of his life, Frances, in Ellsworth. Together they built a loving home and raised their family in Salina.

Jim dedicated 30 years of service to Beech Aircraft before retiring. He enjoyed a full and active life and was known for his many hobbies and passions. Jim loved gardening, painting, collecting rocks, bowling, attending Kansas State Wildcats football games, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and supporting the Salina Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Vincent Jacobo, Sammy Jacobo, Delores Aldaco, Matilda Magana, Socorro Santos, Helen Pantoja, Ramona Rivera, Anita Torres, Mary Montoy, and Delphia Rangal.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Frances Jacobo; daughter, Cyndi Guilbeau (the late Robert); sons, James “JJ” Jacobo (Pam) and Vincent Jacobo (Sheila); grandchildren, Corey Harvey, Casey Jacobo (Rhona), Christian Jacobo (Stormi), Brandon Guilbeau, Christina Guilbeau, and Zakary Jacobo (Bianca); and great-grandchildren, Addy Broussard, Cezir Guilbeau, Oakley Jacobo, and Elia Jacobo.

Visitation will be held at Ryan Mortuary on Friday, May 29, 2026, 4:00 – 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary starting at 6:30 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center or Sacred Heart Cathedral in care of Ryan Mortuary.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Smoky Hill Health and Rehabilitation for the compassionate care they provided to Jim.
