Gregory Richard Ernzen passed away on April 21st, 2026, in Salina, Kansas. He was born on July 19th, 1960, in Salina, Kansas, to Kay and Richard Ernzen.
Greg graduated from Salina High School Central in 1978 and went on to obtain his certification as a Diesel Mechanic Technician from Salina Vocational Technical School. Afterwards, he worked as a Service and Equipment Manager at Saline County for over 20 years. He was a gifted mechanic and enjoyed working on the family cars.
He met the love of his life, Patricia Ernzen, at Marymount College, and they got married in 1983. They have two children, Cara and Lucas. From a young age, he was passionate about fishing and hunting and was an all-around outdoorsman. Growing up, he loved spending time with his grandparents in Beloit and Bennington, going to Camp Easton as a teen where he learned how to live off the land, and farming across the states during his college summers. He shared these passions with his family and made many memories camping at the lake, catching and cooking walleye, deer and bird hunting, and making everyone laugh. He also loved history, gave the best advice, made the best dad jokes, and was a loving father and husband to his family, who love him and will miss him dearly.
Greg was preceded in death by his dad, Richard Ernzen, his mom, Kay Ferson, his step-father, Frank Ferson, and his brother, Kent Ernzen. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ernzen, his children, Cara and husband Norman, Lucas and wife Amber, and his furry companion, Sasha.
