Grantland (Grant) D. Gruver

Grantland D. Gruver passed away on November 5, 2023.

Grant was born was born May 13, 1941 in Youngstown, PA. He attended school in Smethport PA.

Grant and Patricia A. (Pfalzgraf) Gruver were married on December 5th, 1986.

Grant joined the US Air Force in 1959 and was trained as an aerial photographer.  After being stationed in Panama Grant joined the Air Force International Rifle Team.  Grant was a world and national shooting champion in in both long range rifle shooting and small bore rifle shooting.  Grant holds the 147th place on the Air Force Distinguished Rifle honor roll. Grant won numerous national and international shooting championships including winning the Coors Schutzen Fest numerous times until being asked to be a presenter of the awards. Following his time with the rifle team Grant coached the US Air Force Academy’s rifle teams for 10 years.

Following his Air Force military career Grant worked for the US Postal service for 20 years until retirement.

Grant is survived by Dawn Peterson of Salina KS, Gina Wichael of Emporia KS and Jamie Gans of Salina KS.  Grant has 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
