Gerald Eugene Campbell

Gerald Eugene Campbell, age 69, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas. He was born on March 12, 1951 in Belleville, Kansas to Champ and Margaret (Gillespie) Campbell.

Gerald attended Wayne grade school and was in the last 8th grade graduating class. He was a 1969 graduate of Cuba Hillcrest High School, Cuba, Kansas. Gerald went on to attend Cloud County Community College where he met the love of his life.

Gerald married Pamela Nordquist on September 12, 1970 in Concordia, Kansas at the First United Methodist Church. To this Union 4 children were born, Brent, Kenda, Clay and Lane. Gerald and Pam had just recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with their family.

Gerald served in the Kansas Army National Guard and was honorably discharged.

Gerald worked at Combustion Engineering in Concordia, Kansas for 23 years as a Supervisor. He later was self-employed as a farrier.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and NCK Saddle Club both of Concordia. Gerald served on the Rose Hill and Union Cemetery Boards for many years.

Gerald enjoyed riding horses, listening to and singing country western music, ranch and rodeoing, and hunting. He proudly served as a Scout for the Echos of Times Past Oregon Wagon Train Ride in 1993, ’95, ’97 and ’99. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Pamela, Concordia, KS; daughter, Kenda Smith, (Mike Lentz), Port Orange, FL; 3 sons, Brent Campbell (Amy), Salina, KS; Clay Campbell, Northglenn, CO; Lane Campbell, (Sierra Dobrinski), Salina, KS; 7 grandchildren, Amandra (C.J.) McChesney, Brittany Campbell, Casey Campbell, Trevor Preston, Tyler Preston, Haley Campbell, Kaleb Campbell; 1 great grandchild, Gracie McChesney; 3 sisters, Elizabeth Steinle, Springfield, MO; Jane Maddy (Lynn), Wayne, KS; Joyce Corp (Steve), Valley Center, KS; sister-in-law, Ruby Campbell, OK; He was preceded in death by his parents, Champ and Margaret, brother, Charles Campbell, 2 brothers-in-law, Mel Steinle, and Tom Hutchinson, brother-in-law, Bob Nordquist.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Due to Covid restrictions, a Private Family Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. Melanie Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Wayne, Kansas.
