George “Joe” Duane Crighton, Jr.

George Duane “Joe” Crighton, Jr., 54, of Salina, Kansas, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 28th, the result of a heart attack.

Joe was born in Springfield, Missouri on June 25, 1968, the son of Sharon (Flynn) and G. Duane Crighton.

He graduated from El Dorado High School and attended Butler County Community College.

Joe has always worked with his hands. He was a commercial painter then moved to drywall, but no matter where he went or what he did, that was always his occupation. He was active in his church and very involved in Alcoholics Anonymous. He loved providing service to others and longed to lift up the homeless spiritually and help them find their way home.

Survivors include his sweetheart, Sharon Steponick of the home; father, G. Duane Crighton (Hazel), of Springfield, Missouri; step-father, Lloyd Hanna (Elaine) of Wichita; daughter, Sarah Rieke, of Dallas, Texas; son, Tyler Crighton, of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Kimberlee Hanna, of Texas; Beth Hughes (Kris), of Texas; brother, Steve Hanna, of Georgia; several nieces and nephews; aunts, Jody Kranz (Con) of Alabama and Kathleen James of Missouri; uncle, John Crighton of Springfield, Missouri, and scores of friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Flynn (2003); brother, John Michael Hanna (1975); infant son, Trevor Crighton (1996); and daughter, Kaylee Crighton (2020).

Family will receive friends at Revolution Church in Salina at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 2nd and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Piepho officiating. Come as you are; our church is very informal. If you are unable to attend, please remember Joe and his loved ones with prayer. The service will be streamed from live.revo.church.

Joe will be laid to rest during a private graveside service at Pembina Cemetery in Rogersville, Missouri with several generations of Crighton relatives.
