Gary Dean Gordon, 58, of Salina, Kansas passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026. He was born February 14, 1968, in Fort Riley, Kansas to Ady Eldridge and Janice Kay (Lyne) Gordon. He attended Salina South High School and participated in track, earning his nickname “Flash Gordon” and played the saxophone in the band. He graduated from South in 1986.
In his free time, Gary pursued many hobbies and interests. Gary enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in every job he held throughout his life. He was a certified EMT in 1990 and worked for Salina Tree Service, Triad, Tonys Pizza, Phillips Lighting and the Salina Water Treatment Plant. For several years he was also a licensed realtor. He loved fishing, building and repairing things, and tinkering with electronics and wiring. Being a gifted mechanic, he could rebuild a car engine on his own. He was an avid aquarium enthusiast who maintained several freshwater and saltwater tanks throughout his years. He was a member of the Quivira Gun Club and enjoyed collecting pipes and tobacco.
Being a dad was Gary’s greatest joy. He might not have used words of affection often, but his actions spoke volumes about how much he loved his boys. Whether he was working on a project, sharing a laugh, or spending time with family, Gary always had an easy going, “it’s no big deal” attitude.
He is survived by his children, Christopher Gordon (Amanda), of Hicksville, Ohio and Zachary Gordon (Jessie), of Salina; mother, Janice Gordon; grandchildren, Emma Russell, Aurora Bennett, Riley Gordon, Luke Gordon, Ellie Gordon, Kiera Gordon, Aikido Gordon, Aiden Jones, Adryan Gordon, Kelbi Jones, Anderson Ingalls, Brayden Gordon, and Blayklee Gordon; siblings, Becky Jackson (Joey), Danny Gordon, Steven Gordon (Robin), and Michael Gordon (Sharon).
