Fr. Richard James Dallen

Fr. Dallen was born in Concordia, KS on April 16, 1943 to Vern and Clementine (Breault) Dallen. He passed away on March 13, 2020 in Spokane, WA.

Fr. Dallen spent most of his life as an educator at Gongaza University and his academic work included writing his book on penance and reconciliation, “The Reconciling Community” (1986), often used as a text book and still in print. He enjoyed traveling and visited 41 states and 46 countries.

He is survived by several cousins including: Luise Brown of Concordia, KS, Regis Keefe of Winchester, CA, (who was the flower girl at his parents’ wedding) and Archbishop Charles Chaput, OFM (retired) of Philadelphia.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Private Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. Burial of the cremains will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia. Friends may sign the register book from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday, March 30, 2020 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
