Fern Evelyn McCall

Fern Evelyn McCall, 103, of Salina, Kansas, passed away, Friday, August 9, 2019, at Salina Presbyterian Manor.

Fern was born in Rural Ottawa County, Kansas on September 15, 1915, a daughter of the late Neva Ethel (Sink) and Fred E. Larson.

Fern married George W. McCall on April 30, 1936 at her parents’ home in rural Culver, Kansas.

She retired as a Saline County District Court Bookkeeper after 15 years.

Fern’s greatest joys were preparing dinners for family and friends and serving as treasurer for the Peacemakers Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church, was a Red Cross volunteer at Asbury Hospital for 22 years, volunteered at Bloodmobile drive.

Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Smith, of Topeka, Kansas and son, Larry McCall (Joyce), of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. The family appreciates the care from Fern’s niece, Sheri Becker, over past several years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George W. McCall in 1982; sons, Lloyd McCall, Melvin McCall; sisters, Flossie Dewey, Eva Stirn, and Erma Matthews; son-in-law, Kenneth Smith; and daughter-in-law, Donis McCall.

Visitation will be from 10:00 -11:00 am, Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Fitzgerald officiating.

Private family burial will take place at Crown Point Cemetery.
