Ella Fontella Jennings Dooley (Toot)

Ella Fontella Jennings Dooley (Toot) passed away Tuesday, March 16th, 2021 at the age of 86. Ella was born on December 12th, 1934 in Greenwich, KS. to C.R. “Buck” and Pauline (Bridges) Jennings. Ella had an older brother, Darold Jennings, and is survived by younger sister Mazie Jennings White.

 

Ella was married and is survived by Joseph Aloysius Dooley Jr on January 22nd, 1955. They have three children, Patti Louise Dooley LeDuc and husband Jerry LeDuc, Joseph Aloysius Dooley III and wife Tammy Dooley, Peggy Lee Dooley Scheidegger and husband Ken Scheidegger.

 

They have seven grandchildren, Jason and Kevin Stegman, Joseph IV, Travis and Alayna Dooley, and Taylor and Brady Scheidegger., and five great grandchildren, Kemal and Serhan Stegman, Blake and Ethan Stegman, and Drew Elliott.

 

Ella attended beauty school in Salina, when she met her husband who was stationed at Schilling Air Force base. She retired from the office of Blue Beacon International Truck Wash. After retiring, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas and spent time playing golf with newfound friends. After returning to Salina in 2008, she became a lunch lady at Gracie Stewart where she met dear friend Barb Burt. After retiring, she was an active YMCA member. Ella loved spending time with family, shopping, and helping others and had a true passion for the underdog. Her personality, friendship and love will be missed by all who knew her.

 

Memorial services will be held at the 1:00 pm Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Masks and social distancing will be expected. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals.
