Edward Paul Younger

Edward Paul Younger, 87, of McPherson, Kansas passed away at 12:16 p.m. on Holy Saturday, April 20th, 2019 while in the company of family members at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.

Ed was born in Hays, Kansas on April 24, 1931, a son of Peter and Katherine (Pfannenstiel) Younger.

He was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in McPherson. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

Through the years Ed worked for the International Harvester Company as a dealer in WaKeeney, Kansas and worked for Farm Bureau as an Agency Manager in McPherson, Kansas until he retired in 2001.

Ed enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also was an avid sports fan of McPherson High School Bullpups and KU Jayhawks basketball. One of his fondest memories was in the fall when family and friends gathered for pheasant hunting.

He is survived by the love of his life Dorothy Younger, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Lonnie Younger and his wife Cindy, of Franklin, Tennessee; Leon Younger and his wife Katherine of Brownsburg, Indiana; LeRoy Younger and his partner Steven Spillers, of Topeka, Kansas; Tami Kaegi and her husband Grant, of Lenexa, Kansas; his brothers Frank Younger of Hays, Kansas; Norman Younger and his wife Mollie, of Hays, Kansas; brother Richard Younger and his wife Betty, of Hays, Kansas; sisters Mary Dreiling and her husband Bob of Hays, Kansas and sister Cora Sawazhki of Topeka, Kansas.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jenny Pietrzak (David), Amy Flynn (Ed), Greg Younger (Lindsey), Will Younger (Noelle), John Younger, Caitlin Montgomery (Norm), Sarah Durham (Keaton), Rachel Schlichter (Kyle), Megan Leiker (Patrick), John Kaegi (Amanda) and Rachel Green (Daniel).

18 great-grandchildren, Sam, MacKenzie, Henry, Jackson, Charlie, Max, Reese, Rhett, Ocean, Lark, McCartney, Edison, Charlotte, Kennedi, Pierce, Lincoln, Lucy, Kaden.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his five brothers.

Visitation will be held at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas beginning with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25th, 2019 with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating.

A private family burial will be held at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
