Charlotte “Eileen” (Caldwell) Byquist

SALINA – Charlotte “Eileen” Byquist, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 13, 2022. Eileen was born April 23, 1928 in Desoto, MO, to Carl and Elma (Vaughan) Caldwell. After graduating valedictorian of her class, she attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO, where she met her husband, Jack. They were married Dec. 23, 1947 and were happily married for 55 years prior to his death in 2002. To this union were born children, Stan, Sherlyn and Brad.

As with many in her generation she was raised during the depression and from this came her lifelong love of gardening and she spent many happy hours in her flower gardens. Her many grandchildren loved to come and spend the night with grandma and grandpa as she spoiled them.

She is survived by her son, Stan Byquist; daughter, Sherlyn (Denny) Everett, and son, Brad (Jeanne) Byquist; grandchildren, Stacy (James) Brown, Jesica (Matt) Branstetter, Jill (Blake) Ryan, Grant Byquist, Trent (Ruby), Byquist, and Bridget Byquist; and nine great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and a daughter in law, Marla Byquist.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from noon until the hour of the service. Inurnment will follow the memorial service at the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
