Bobby Duane Thayer Sr., 69, of Salina, KS, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026. He was born on November 4, 1956, in Tescott, KS, to Alvin and Alberta (Rollett) Thayer.

Bob grew up in the Tescott/Beverly area and graduated from Salina Central High School. He worked for Exide for over 20 years and then for many years at Green Lantern in Salina. Bob liked to watch NASCAR, wrestling, and Salina City Commission meetings, which often got him fired up.

Survivors include his children, Bobby Thayer Jr. “BJ” and Heather Thayer (Gage Betz); sister, Eulah Johnson (Jim); and grandchildren, Christopher, Hayden, and Cade Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Harold and Johnny Thayer, and Kathy DeGraw.

A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, at Ryan Mortuary, with burial to follow in the Beverly City Cemetery.
