KSAL StaffJanuary 5, 2022

Barbara Jean Frazier-Sparks, 84, of Salina, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022. Barb was born to James and Margaret Pierce in Iowa on May 18, 1937. She was an only child, which she wasn’t fond of, but God blessed her with 7 beautiful children, 14 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren that she loved so deeply.

Although she had many trials and tribulations that she lived through, she never let that determine her life path. In 1990 her faith prevailed, and she claimed her life back from her anxiety and lived her last 32 years with sobriety. During that time, she was a sponsor to countless people to help them fight their addiction with alcohol. She taught us all to love thy neighbor and take care of your community.

She never knew a stranger or passed any judgement. She loved dancing, games, reality TV, reading and rummaging any garage sale no matter the size. She was forgiving, kind, understanding, supportive, wise, funny and she gave the best hugs. Anyone who knew her knows the power of a hug from Barb, Mom or Grandma. She loved her family with the deepest love, an unexplainable love, a love no one can replace.

She was our counselor, our confidante, our mom, our grandma, our friend. She will be missed beyond measure. The world needs more people like Barb.

Barb was preceded in death by her father James Pierce, her stepfather Jimmy Williams, her mother Margret Williams, her grandson Beau Buehre and her aunt Mary Blaka.

Barb is survived by her 7 children. Mark Frazier and wife Donna Frazier, Mike Frazier, Lynda Buehre and husband Rich Bergen, Drew Frazier and partner Diane Wenger, Kelly Trenhaile and husband Jay Trenhaile, Kim Kerns and husband Joel Kerns and Brad Sparks. As well as 14 treasured grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Cain Frazier and his wife Myia and their daughter Vae. Nicholas Buehre and his wife Janet and their two children Aislynn and Brennan. Brooke Lemon and her husband Andrew. Meredith Frazier and her two children Jack and Kincaid. Rachel Frazier and her two children Talan and Vance. Thayer Trenhaile. Gage Kerns. Hanna Frazier and her partner Jett Vilardell and their three children Jett, Jayden and Josie. Kara Thomas and her husband Brandon and their daughter Aria. Lexi Kerns and partner Emily Schneider. Westin Trenhaile. Lilly Sparks.

A private graveside will be January 5, in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Abilene. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ashby House, Salina, or Kansas Humane Society in her name.
