Arvetta Fern Bethe

Arvetta Fern Bethe passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Brookdale – Salina – Fairdale Facility after a short illness.  She was born March 21, 1928, at Kipp, Kansas to Clifford and Rosella (Thomas) Ireton.

At the age of six, her parents passed away in a house fire, and Arvetta and her sister, Mary Louise, and brothers Fred and Irvin were adopted.  Arvetta was adopted by Alfred and Ethel Hawkinson of Salina.  She attended public schools and Bethany College in Lindsborg, majoring in vocal music.

August of 1949, she married Warren E Bergquist of Smolan, Kansas.  He preceeded her in death in an October 1950 due to a farm accident.  To this union a daughter, Janice, was born.

August 1956, she married Harvey L. Millr of Salina and he preceeded her in death in April of 1987.  To this union two daughters Anita and Rita were born and Harvey had a son, Curtis.

In June 1988, she married Charles Dean Bethe of Salina, and he passed away in July 2020.  Dean had four children.

During her earlier years, Arvetta was a vocalist for a local radio station and later worked as a nurse aide at St John’s Hospital and had many rental properties in Salina.

Arvetta is survived by her three daughters: Janice (Robert) Beckham of Pittsburg, KS, Anita (Sam) Binder of Lenore, ID, and Rita Price and friend Mike Deans of Salina, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel. Services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 1:30pm at the First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis, Salina.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1920 E Crawford Street, Salina. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis, Salina, KS 67401.
