Afton Nickolas Jones

Afton Nickolas Jones, 98, of Salina, passed away Sunday, November 17th, 2019.

Afton was born in Morris, Oklahoma on October 19, 1921, a son of the late Florence Vernettie (Gattis) and Arthur Nickolas Jones.

He was in the United States Army Air Corp, during WWII. He worked for Beech Aircraft for over 50 years and was an avid gardener and coin collector.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Thompson (Bryan) of Salina, Kansas, Kathy Brocato, (Ralph) of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren, Arthur Thompson, Emily Thompson, Frank Thompson (Alison), John Thompson, Laurel Thompson, Rachel Bryan (Phillip); and two great grandchildren, Reed and Skylar

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Agnes (Dohrman) Jones; grandson, Ralph Michael Thompson; sister, Ellen Jones; brothers, Jack Jones, Emerson Jones, and J.D. Jones.

At the family’s request there will be no visitation.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 21st, at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Kansas, with Rev. Becky Reed officiating.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 am, December 23rd, at Belmont Blvd Christian Church, Salina.
