metAugust 12, 2022

No injuries are reported after a large grass and brush fire flared up yesterday afternoon in Reno County.

According to the Pretty Prairie fire chief, field crews had been cutting CRP grass when the fire broke out. It reportedly spread to nearby trees and foliage before jumping across K-14 Highway.

Fire officials say the blaze charred more than eight thousand acres before it was brought under control.
