Unemployment in Kansas is on the rise.

The Kansas Department of Labor says the state’s jobless rate increased to two-point-nine percent in May.

That marks an increase from the two-point-eight percent unemployment rate in April.

The state lost nearly 300 private sector jobs in May and government employment grew by 400 jobs.
