Kansas Education Officials Approve Emergency Declaration

MetrosourceJanuary 13, 2022

The Kansas Board of Education is taking steps to address a teacher shortage.

Board members voted yesterday to approve an emergency declaration that lifts some requirements for substitute teachers.

The emergency declaration allows for substitute teacher candidates to apply for a Temporary Emergency Authorized License, and it removes a requirement for candidates to have 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited college or university.
