The death of a Kansas prison inmate is under investigation.

Fifty-one-year-old Eric Avila was found unresponsive in his cell at the Lansing Correctional Facility on Saturday and pronounced dead.

Avila was serving a 20-year sentence for kidnapping and second-degree murder out of Sedgwick County following the 2013 death of his girlfriend.
