Volunteer Firefighter Dies of Injuries Linked to October Blaze

A southeast Kansas firefighter is dead, nearly one month after he was critically burned while fighting a residential fire.

According to a spokesperson for the Baxter Springs Fire Department, Lieutenant Malachi Brown died yesterday at a Springfield, Missouri hospital. The volunteer firefighter reportedly had been in a medically induced coma since he was injured in an October 15th fire.

Lieutenant Brown is survived by his wife and three children.
