A house fire is under investigation in Derby.

Emergency crews were called to a home in the 200-block of South Cedar Ranch Court late Saturday night after a resident spotted a fire and called 9-1-1.

The homeowners extinguished the fire before crews arrived.

Investigators say the fire was caused by improperly disposed fireworks in a trash bin.
