Forest Service Revises Fire Damage Estimate

MetrosourceDecember 22, 2021

The Kansas Forest Service is revising the damage totals from last week’s wildfires.

The agency announced yesterday that 163-thousand acres of land burned instead of the 400-thousand acres that was initially reported.

Kansas Forest Service officials say that the original damage report was thrown off by dust, smoke and heat in the air. Two people died in the fires.
