🎥 Mall Plants Get New Life at Zoo

Plants which were once part of the atmosphere inside the now nearly vacant Central Mall in Salina have been given new life at Rolling Hills Zoo,According to the Zoo, their landscape team recently visited the mall and carefully selected plants that would be a great fit throughout the Zoo, while also ensuring they are safe and non-toxic for the animals.

These plants have now been given a second life in a variety of places around the Zoo, including exhibits for the small primates in the Rhino Barn, reptiles at Bamboo Bay, the new Education Campus, the keeper breakroom, as well as outdoor spaces.

The Zoo is grateful to Central Mall for helping them add more greenery and beauty to Rolling Hills Zoo while giving these plants a new home and a wonderful new purpose.

According to the Mall, due to storm damage since April 27th, the inside remains closed. There is no set timeline for when the inside of the Central Mall will reopen to the public.

The following businesses remain open regular hours through their outside entrance:
  • District Eat and Play
  • Dunham’s Sports
  • Ross– Enter through the East side.
  • Salina Gymnastics Club
  • Taylor’s Twirlers
