Salina Police are investigating the theft of some construction equipment from a residential area.

Police say Smoky Hills Heavy Contractors of Salina contacted police after someone removed a 125-pound bit that is used in a Ditch Witch trencher from a job site.

Officers say the bit was left on a pallet in the 700 block of Marvin. Thieves also stole a 12-inch back reamer.

Total loss is listed at $1,400.
