Suspect Sought in Chase

Salina Police are looking for a driver who led officers on a 2-minute chase that reached speeds up to 60-miles per hour near downtown.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that Wednesday evening just before 8pm, officers were called to the area of the 100 block of North 10th Street after neighbors reported suspicious behavior and what looked like a white male trying to steal a lawn mower.

Moments later police attempted to stop the suspect who was driving a maroon colored 1996 Toyota Camry.

The driver sped away and police called off the pursuit for safety concerns after he ran stop signs at Iron Avenue and Walnut.

The car was recovered near 12th and Washington and police are looking for a known suspect.
