Over 550 Citiations During “Click It Or Ticket”

KSAL Staff - June 5, 2015 11:29 am

Both the Saline County Sheriff’s Office and Salina Police Department released results Friday of the recently completed “Click It Or Ticket” Memorial Day Special Traffic Enforcement Program.

The agencies logged a combined 171.5 overtime hours.  Officers and deputies made over 500 combines traffic stops, and wrote over 550 citations.

Between May 18th and May 31st  an increased law enforcement presence was on roads around Kansas checking for people wearing seat belts. Funding from the Kansas Department of Transportation, through the Special Traffic Enforcement Program, helped to pay for the overtime hours for the extra officers on patrol.

They should be so proud. Mean while total up all the thefts during the same period of time. Enforcing lost of freedom laws does not help the image of either department. People should have the freedom to choose whether they wish to buckle up or not plus it does not effect anyone but themselves. But lets look at all the drivers using cell phones and I-pads now these people cause accidents and end up killing innocent people. This is what they should be doing something about but then again most of the people in both of these law enforcement departments are on their cell phones all the time to so they would have to ticket themselves.
