A broken protection order leads to the arrest of a Salina man on Thursday morning.

Police officers were called to a home in south Salina after a woman was assaulted and kicked in the stomach by a male acquaintance around 5:10am Thursday.

Police arrested 26-year-old Christopher R. Demel a short distance from the residence that also had two elementary school aged children inside.

Police say the woman had scrapes and bruises on her arms and back and was treated and released for internal bleeding at Salina Regional Health Center.

The children were not hurt.

Demel is now facing multiple charges that include aggravated battery, violation of a protection order and stalking.
