Power Restored After Large Outage

Over 3,000 Westar customers lost power early Friday morning, including a large portion of the Salina downtown area.

Multiple homes and businesses lost power at around 8:00 in the morning.

Westar told KSAL News that a problem at the substation at 2nd and North Street was the cause of the problem. The problem was not storm related, but rather it was caused by a bird.

Crews responded to the area, and worked to get power restored. Power was restored to most customers by around 11:30.
