Inmate Dies at Hospital

An inmate found hanging in a Saline County Jail cell last week has died.

Sheriff Glen Kochanowski tells KSAL News that  49-year-old John J. Tripp of Keystone, Florida died on Sunday, November 29th after staff at Salina Regional Health Center turned off life support.

The Sheriff’s Office says Tripp was transported to the hospital November 22nd after he was discovered hanging from the top bunk in his cell.

Deputies performed CPR before Tripp was transported to Salina Regional Health Center.

Tripp had been in the Saline County Jail since since October 31st on drug charges.

An inmate found hanging in a Saline County Jail cell remains unconscious at the hospital.
According to Captain Roger Soldan with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, an inmate alerted deputies after waking up to find 49-year-old John J. Tripp hanging from the top bunk in his cell. Deputies performed CPR before Tripp was transported to Salina Regional Health Center early Sunday morning around 1:20am. Captain Soldan tells KSAL News that Tripp had wrapped a pair of jail issued pants around his neck.
Tripp, who is from Keystone, Florida had been in the Saline County Jail since since October 31st on drug charges.
