Former Senator Vidricksen Passes Away

Flags in Salina have been ordered to fly at half-staff to honor former state senator Ben Vidricksen. The 88-year-old former senator passed away Monday.
Vidricksen served in the Kansas Senate from 1979 to 2001. He chaired the Transportation and Tourism committee where he was especially known for his efforts to expand I-135, a portion of which was ultimately named after him in 2002. Vidricksen is also a former restaurant and catering business owner.
Governor Sam Brownback has ordered flags in Saline County to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down this Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 in honor of the former state senator. Vidricksen’s funeral services are scheduled for that day.
