About 10-acres of prairie grass was burned in a ditch fire that may have been sparked by a mechanical issue on a vehicle.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan tells KSAL News that a vehicle traveling northbound in the 3000 block of North Hedville Road was backfiring and started a grass fire in several spots on Friday.

Investigators found several pieces of hot metal that presumably fell off the vehicle. The driver and vehicle have not been identified.

Rural Fire District #3 responded to the fire.
