Doris Maxine Long Davis

Doris Maxine Long Davis passed peacefully on December 8, 2025, at the remarkable age of 94. Doris, born on April 1, 1931, lived her life as a true warrior, dedicating her time and energy to providing delicious food and attention to family, friends, and the community of Minneapolis.
Doris had a passion for cooking, gardening, volunteering, and most of all, spending quality time with her loved ones. She was well known in the community for her famous coconut cream pie, among other culinary delights. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and she had an incredible ability to achieve anything she set her mind to. Doris worked at the Ottawa County Health Center for many years as well as Jo’s Daylight Donuts in her later years. One of her favorite past times was playing cards with friends.
After marrying Max Leland Davis on April 4, 1949, Doris and Max briefly lived in Colorado before settling in rural Minneapolis. They were blessed with three children: Raymond (Kathy) of Minneapolis, Leland (Triessa) of Wells, Kelita (Chris) of McPherson. Doris ‘s legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and husband.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 16 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. To honor and celebrate her remarkable life, a celebration will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 17, at the funeral home. In honor of Doris, please feel free to wear lavender or purple in honor of her true love for the color. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 3201 and may be left in care of the funeral home.
