Bud (Peter) L. Sutton, 70, lifelong Salina resident, died Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Kenwood View Health and Rehab in Salina, Kansas.

He was born on March 8, 1955, in Salina, the son of Earl and Joyce Gumble Sutton. Peter was raised and attended schools in Salina.

He was a welder, originally going to work for Mai Steel in Salina which would later become PKM Steel. Peter later went to MDF Industries from which he retired but continued to work parttime.

An avid Dallas Cowboys and Dale Earnhart Sr. fan, Bud enjoyed all types of racing and fishing. He spent his summer days mowing his neighbors’ yards, asking nothing in return. He was humble and selfless always willing to help someone in need, even a stranger.

Survivors include his former spouse Rita Sutton, sons Mike Sutton of Salina, Matthew Sutton and his companion Fe of Lawrence; brother Randy Sutton of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. In his later years he grew close to his granddaughter Mykayle, sharing a love of welding and racing.
