Bobby J. Trecek

Bobby J. Trecek, the son of Joe and Louise M. (Neuvians) Trecek was born September 29, 1936 on a farm in rural Cuba, Kansas and passed away on March 6, 2026 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 89.

Bob attended White Country School south of Cuba through the eighth grade and graduated from Cuba High School. He later graduated from Brown Mackie Business School in Salina.

On June 26, 1960, he was united in marriage to Glennis R. Beneda and to this union was born, Troy and Tammy.

Bob completed his military service in the National Reserves through Fort Leonard Wood. Following his graduation, he began his career with the Soil Conservation Service, working in Salina, Belleville, and Concordia until his retirement. During those years, Bob especially enjoyed visiting farms throughout the county to measure land for ponds and terraces and valued the relationships he built along the way. He formed many lasting friendships through his work with SCS.

After retiring from the Soil Conservation Service, Bob began a second career in real estate, first as an agent and later as a broker. He truly enjoyed working with people and took great satisfaction in helping families find their homes.

Bob had a deep love for his community and dedicated many years to serving it. He was a member of the Belleville Presbyterian Church and served for many years on the church Session. He was also actively involved in the Belleville Main Street Committee, the Masons, Lions Club, Republic County Historical Society, Kansas Junior Miss, and Meals on Wheels. A special highlight for Bob was serving as Grand Marshal of the Belleville Sesquicentennial Parade.

He also had a passion for local history and loved sharing his knowledge of Republic County with others. Bob was an avid collector of Republic County souvenir dishes and other memorabilia. In addition to his professional work, Bob continued farming with his father, Joe, on the family farm just south of Cuba, raising a variety of crops and livestock. The farm always held a special place in his heart.

Bob was preceded in death by this parents, Joe and Louise Trecek, brothers-in-law,  Delwin Holmberg and Lonnie Beneda.

Bob is survived by his wife, Glennis Trecek of Belleville, KS;  son, Troy Trecek of Salina, KS;  daughter,  Tammy (Kevin) Bruns of Sugar Land, Texas;  grandchildren,Ryan (Samantha) Bruns, and Ashlyn Bruns & fiancée, Ely;  sister, Joan Holmberg; Nephews, Jeff (Kristie) Holmberg and Dan (Nancy) Beneda; niece, Deena (Farhang) Khosh;  sister-in-law, Nancy Beneda; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, KS with Reverend Jim Hawley, officiating.

Interment will follow at the National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery, Cuba, KS.

Viewing and visitation will be from 1 PM until 7 PM Tuesday, March 10th at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS where the family will greet friends from 5 PM until 7PM.
