Wichita police are investigating after a man tried to abduct an eight-year-old girl in a West Wichita neighborhood.

It happened some time before 11:30 Saturday morning in the 600 block of North Gordon. The young girl was able to break free from the man after he grabbed her and she ran to her grandparents who called 9-1-1.

The suspect was located shortly after the incident and booked on aggravated kidnapping and child abuse charges.
