A high-speed chase ends with an arrest after a driver rams a Salina Police cruiser.
Police Captain Jim Feldman tells KSAL News that 27-year-old Devin Murrell of New Cambria was taken into custody early Wednesday morning following a vehicle chase and foot pursuit.
Police say around 2:30am, an officer on patrol attempted to make a traffic stop in the 800 block of W. Crawford after noticing an expired tag. Murrell allegedly drove away reaching speeds of 65mph in a 30-mph zone.
Moments later the officer ended the pursuit, but Murrell’s Chevy Traverse was identified by another cop in the 300 block of W. Jewell.
Police report the officer made evasive moves twice to avoid being hit by Murrell’s Chevy, but the car did ram into the cruiser’s front passenger door. Murrell exited his vehicle and ran but was found hiding in the 1400 block of S. Santa Fe and arrested.
He’s now facing charges that could include aggravated battery of a police officer, felony criminal damage and multiple traffic violations.
